Submissions 2005 Bonk Festival
The Bonk Festival of New Music welcomes submissions of non-mainstream music for programming consideration, particularly from composers whose work makes use of electronics and computer technology.
Strong preference in programming decisions is given to works by composers who can attend the festival as active participants and whose interests and abilities complement those of the existing core of festival artists.
Participating composer/performers travel at their own expense, though we are happy to provide letters of support to facilitate outside travel funding.
The 14th annual Bonk Festival of New Music will take place early in March, 2005. Although final program information will not become available until January, 2005, a preliminary schedule of concert dates/locations should be available in late summer (2004), and the works to be presented will be posted at the Bonk website in early December, 2004.
Guidelines, Application and Deadline
Please read the following guidelines and other information carefully before preparing a submission to the 2005 Bonk Festival.
Submissions of works must include:
- Curriculum vitae/resume; a list of works MUST be included.
- A maximum of three scores and/or tapes (it is helpful to include a recorded performance of the work if possible – please, no MIDI realizations unless the piece is explicitly for MIDI instruments!). Preference will generally be given to more recent works.*
- A brief bio and at least one photo for use in promotion
- Program notes for all submitted work(s)
- A statement regarding your ability to attend the festival and/or contribute as a performer.
- A self-addressed, postage-paid envelope for the return of materials
Materials must be received no later than September 30th, 2004, regardless of postmark date.
For submissions by performers, include vita, repertoire list and CD of one or two representative performances. At this time, we are accepting performer submissions for the 2006 festival, to be postmarked no later than October 31st, 2004. You may also submit single works on behalf of a composer for the 2005 festival, following the guidelines above.
Those interested in submitting scores and/or recordings for consideration in 2005 may send them to:
